It all started in 1993, General Lee Drunk and Jack Shit met for the first time in a garage in Waco Texas to play some music. After a casual jam session, the band was instantly born, rock was played and beer was drank. Both grew up fans of punk, classic rock and Texas music. There were lots of influences, but the Hammercocks have always taken pride in being original and have kept that mentality to this day. In the beginning, countless storage sheds were littered with beer bottles and classic songs. The very first became a project of the band as they constructed a stage and basement inside. This is where the roots of the Hammercocks began to grow. Good friends, lots of alcohol and songs that made you want to punch someone in the fuckin’ mouth! In the 90’s, there were lots of shows in Texas, mainly house parties and small clubs. The number of people who’s last words were “you’ll never play here again” were staggering, but it was the Hammercock way. There were broken things, messy things, a little blood and lots of pissed off people. Some demos were created as the band played on as a three piece with Jack’s brother Kris. It was good friends doing what they loved to do, create and play music for the sake of Rock and causing a little trouble along the way!

Around the turn of the century, the band came to a turning point as Jack moved to Dallas and Kris left the band. This was the first major change since the band’s beginnings. Otto Partz, a long time friend took over on the bass. He had never played an instrument before, but learned quick. Several months later, a co-worker invited the newly revived 3-piece over to his place to drink some beer and rock out. Soon after Billy-Ray Virus became the band’s lead guitarist and the Cocks were a 4 piece, a new era had begun. Billy’s Goat Farm was the Hammercocks new home for the next several years. Things took off and they recorded and released their first official full length CD on Wolverine Records. The album was chocked full of instant classics and was well received. The band began to play shows all over Texas and surrounding states in the South leaving a trail of bloody ear drums and a few broken bones!

As a follow up to the debut, several vinyl recordings were released through-out Europe. A short time later, Billy decided to move on and the band had to regroup. Jack’s second brother Boss Hawg was brought in on Bass and Otto stepped up to lead guitar. Several recordings were made and some released including a few for tribute albums (Hank Williams Sr. and Motorhead). The band began to really hit their stride and from their new home in a monolithic dome compound in Central Texas, the second full length CD Lone Star Evil was released on Devils Shitburner Records in 2008

After the new release, Boss Hawg decided to move on and the Hammercocks crossed paths with long time friend Death Row Tull who took over on bass. In 2009, the band has now been in existence for nearly 16 years!!. The Hammercocks are in the final stages of releasing their 3rd full length album and hope to have it out in 2010. They are currently shopping a label to release what promises to be their best recording to date.

The ‘Cocks sing about everything from bass fishing to drinking to the Duke boys to murder. They continue to play more and more live shows which are always exciting, full throttle affairs. The Hammercocks have never had rock star syndrome, they have played for beer and opened countless times. Their greatest fans have always been their good friends since the beginning. They do not play to fit in, stay on top of trends or to be part of some fucking scene. The Hammercocks have always been in it for the glory of rock ‘n roll and for the sake of a good time. As the years go by and countless bands rot, the Hammercocks keep their foot on the gas of a punk rock machine fueled by brotherhood and their love for music. Friends, alcoholics, perverts, sluts and punks - raise your god damn middle fingers high up in the air for the FUCKING HAMMERCOCKS!!!!
